St Leger (Listed) won by Guns At Five

Trentham – Dixon & Dunlop NZ St Leger 3 & 4 Yo Listed over 2500m won by Guns At Five (Duelled – Accidentallyinlove).  Trained by Chris Wood’s and ridden by Damian Browne, this is a winning combination.  

 

The pace was set slow and Guns At Five sat on the rail towards the back of the field.  Past the 800mtr the pace was increasing and Damian Browne managed to get off the rail to be sitting on the outside ready to pounce around the turn.  Giving the big Gun the ability to fire his canon to pass the field and win.

 

Accidentallyinlove (Cape Cross – Heartache) has had one to the races (Guns At Five) with 5 wins from 17 starts including the Listed St Leger today.  The mare has a Scaredee Cat filly that is currently in work, a yearling that Paul Shailer of Shailer Racing purchased for NZ$80k at the NZ Bloodstock Select Sale, as well as a beauty Don Eduardo filly weaned.   She is in foal to Perfectly Ready.

 

Accidentallyinlove is the half sister to Black Type performers Sworn to Secrecy (Gr2), Bear Heart (Kick Serve HK), Tenko, One Nite Stand.  Their Dam Heartache has a Keeper Colt at foot and is in foal to Zabeel.  Her Don Eduardo yearling filly is at home in the paddock.

NZ Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale – opportunities available……

The NZ Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale was set to be a tough market.  

The economy roll on effect has now possibly effected the 2012 Sale with a 74% clearance rate and being a Colt Buying Market, it was tough going.

It has been fantastic to see the Australian’s were here in force and that the Hong Kong trainers were floating around viewing as well. 

 

Bradbury Park Sold the Keeper – Ismailia Filly (Lot 253) for $32500 to John Chalmers Bloodstock, Australia where she will be heading in time to be trained in Perth.  Her new owner is delighted with his purchase.

 

The Don Eduardo – Heartache filly (Lot 254) was passed in at $52500 with a reserve of $55k

The Stravinsky – Perfect Evening filly (Lot 369) was passed in at $45k with a reserve of $70k

Guns At Five – 4 Wins Straight

Guns At Five (Duelled – Accidentallyinlove (Cape Cross) won the WRC Virginia Turner Summer Cup over 2400m, yesterday, 28th January at Trentham.

 

With Mark Hills aboard the inform Chris Wood’s trained Guns At Five, they jumped, sat mid field then was shuffled towards the back of the field, this promoted Hills to make the move to go around the 800mtr mark.  Coming around the turn for home, Guns At Five was travelling the widest and pumping.  Hitting the lead up the straight he was not going to be passed.

 

For those of you who are attending the NZ Bloodstock Karaka yearling sales, Guns At Five has a half sister by Any Suggestion who is in the Select Sale on offer under the Bradbury Park Draft.  The Dam, Accidentallyinlove is infoal to Perfectly Ready and has a Don Eduardo filly at foot.  This win is now the fourth win since the Catalogue went to print.
